If the plugins mechanism will be developed for HE I suggest it be updatable from the web similarly to Firefox add-ons.

I suggest HE gets its Plug-in mechanism implemented as in JEdit (I think), so a plug-in would be downloaded using a Plugins screen that connects to a web-repository of available Plug-ins.
Also one should be able to upload a plug in developed to HE's site.
