Why the Quick Search Bar can only be closed with the X Button on the far right?

I expected it to toggle by Ctrl-Q-ing or by clicking on the menu item (in View -> Panes -> Quick Search Bar).

Doing the above only places the focus to the search text box, which is not a big deal to me.

PS: Why not to make it floating/dockable this pane?

Hi Arthur,

this is by design. From my point of view it is much more useful to set focus on search field if bar is already open then toggle it state.
Also it is consistent with Find Dialog behaviour.
But if you want you can close any bar (Navigation or Quick Search) with Esc, when focus is on the bar.

For floating you already have Find Dialog.
You can dock it only to top or bottom. Top is already used, so bottom is most preferable. Bar is already docked bottom. So I do not see reason for efforts to make bar dockable ;)

Best regards,
Alex
