1.44 font size rendered to small
« on: June 29, 2009, 02:44:51 pm »
Hi,
HippoEdit 1.45 on Windows Vista/7 x64.

Using consolas font with size 8 is now rendered extremely small. Using font size 9 is rendered Ok.

Hi chrislu,

welcome. Can you please attach screen shot demonstrating this that I can check.
There is no problem to change default font size for hippoedit config files to 9, but I just curious, what is a difference between XP for example.. There font size was fine (at least for me ;) ). But it was smaller then standard Courier new size for rest of syntaxes.

Best regards,
Alex.

Ok,

here with font size 9:

now directly switched to font size 8:

i don't have a xp installed at the moment, so i can not check there. this was ok with 1.43 and with 1.44 (typo in the post title) i have this behavior.

Hi Chris,

yes, you are right... I have compared with 1.42 and then with Consolas text in Notepad. Looks like that height of Consolas 9 in HE 1.44 is 8 pt  but not 9 pt.

In HE 1.42 the font height of 8 pt Consolas was also, from my point of view is not Ok. But any way...
I think this is a rounding problem (I have replaced windows MulDiv by my own inline, an probably it is a little bit different :/ ).

I would fix the bug in next beta. Strange, that for Courier New is in not noticeable, but probably because I use size 10 pt and it is difficult to see 1 pt difference in this case.

Thanks a lot for bug report.

Best regards,
Alex.

hi, when compared to visual studio the way 1.43 rendered the fonts was right. the 8 point in 1.44 is way to small while the 9 point was correct again compared to visual studio. please remember that 8 pint does not mean 8 pixels high or wide!

of course I know that pt != px ;)
I was just comparing them to text output of Notepad. Where for 8 pt it was 9 px HE uses 8 px.
