yes, most likely this was not a system error... that can be something caused by HE, that lock was not released or what ever... Not clear for me yet.
I have tried color previewer (logic for image preview is mostly same) and it works. Maybe some specific of the code. Paste here snippet of what was not working.

such change is status bar is conversion indeed (or you can select another code page on save). Generally He works with UTF-16 only which knows mostly all symbols from all code pages except of some Thai languages.
During open, editor tries to detect the code page and then do conversion from this code page to UTF-16. When you change code page in status bar, HE does a reread of the the file from disk with specified encoding once more converting to UTF-16. If file was already modified, conversion is done in-place. UTF-16 -> original code page -> New Code Page -> UTF-16.

Encoding is used that only during save for conversion UTF-16 -> Specified Encoding.

Alex.

Hi I have updated beta on server (should 800). The update is not officially published, just use old links, they lead to updated version.
I am not sure, that issue with deadlock will be fixed, but I have modified some code that can lead to a problem and now want to know if this helps (problem, I am not able to reproduce the bug on my side).
Can you please try it and if it still deadlocks, please upload the dump once more.

Thanks a lot,
Alex

Hello, Alex,
sory about my long time disapear.
I'd work with 1.49. build 803 version, and old bug is here. And also I see a new stange thing. FIND IN FILES stop work. I select Finf in menu or press Ctrl+F, write word what I want to find, select "Find in files", select folder in which I want to find, press FIND button. And ops, find window close, and main window close to. But I see what Find was started, and Find results panel was actve. But Search not compete.  And I unable create dump, programm is close to quick. What about new crash dump for a first bug? I can do it if you think what it help to.

Hi Lexxan,

the thing is that I need you to test explicitly with version 800, because it contained a fix different from one in 803. Than if it will work by you with 800 and will not work with next version (currently 803) I will be able to find a hint for reason. Now, I do not know if 800's fix will help on your case or not :/. I got another report which was fixed with 800, but I ma not sure that it i same like you have.  So, please send me new dump when HE will freeze and I can check for reason now and maybe will try to build new beta with fix from 800.

About crash during search - looks like stack overflow. But by me works. is it possible to recreate the sequence? Maybe you can send me files which were searched and word?
Screenshot of the find dialog before start also good, that I see flags selected. Also when you say press FIND button: does this mean Find Next or Find All.

Best regards,
Alex.
