Activating custom hippoedit.config with command line parameter
« on: November 11, 2010, 12:17:55 am »
Hi, I'm very pleased with HippoEDIT. The clean interface is a major feature for me. I opened this thread to make a feature request: allowing for storing multiple configurations of HippoEDIT (storing which toolbars & panes are visible, which syntax settings are enabled, window size and position and so on).

I would prefer HippoEDIT to be different to me when I edit HTML from when I use it as a simple text editor.

But I realised that I'd only have to install HippoEDIT as portable and then copy everything from the folder HippoEDIT\ to for instance a second folder HippoEDIT_small\

Now I can have two links on the desktop to both installed instances of HippoEDIT and I can configure these instances independantly from one another.

Great.

Oh, the two installations are not fully independent though...

I just edited my keymaps in keymap_default.xml, assuming that my Settings Folder is c:\Program Files\HippoEDIT_small\data\ (as is stated on the about dialog), but my edited XML file ends up in the original c:\Program Files\HippoEDIT\data\

Perculiar, I write just to let you know, Alex. It certainly won't spoil my satisfaction

Hi GJK,

welcome on forum.  I think way you have selected is too complex ;) You can use workspaces/
Search for workspaces on forum and check File->Workspaces menu.

Best regards,
Alex.
