I would like to see the ability to scroll through and quickly open view and close files as they are scrolled through in a directory.
This could be done with keyboard shortcuts, but would be nicer to do with a combination of keys and scrolling the mouse.

I have seen this function in Jujuedit and have found it to be useful.  In Jujuedit, press Alt+page up or page down.  It says to use Alt+num 9 or num 3.

Hmm, interesting idea.

Because, normally if you have to look into a many files you end up with
many open tabs (doc windows) which you have to close at your own.

So at least i can imagine an kind of locked tab, which -if it has the focus- close automatically the current file (ask to save)
and act on the next command like the "Open"-command or at the double click into the explorer pane.

The Open-Next/Prev-File command would be nice too but could perhaps be done by an script?

The action to "close current tab / open new tab / open next/prev file" could be done completely by an script,
but i think at least the "Lock Tab" should be an build-in feature and could be of use for many users.

Let's see what Alex think about.

Keep up the good ideas.

Hi Heminate,

thanks for the suggestion. The idea is interesting (at least new for me, I only know such kind of preview in file open dialog).
But form another side, from UI perspective it is not very obvious how to implement it in a way that users will find and use it. The solution with shortcuts nobody will find, and very few people will read docu or forum... What you suggest, is a function often seen in file managers as quick view or preview (Total Commander, or Far or old Norton Commander). And by fact it suits to them better. Because alos fit by UI.
Also with suggestion of Stefan with Locked file, it will not became more clear for users.
One more solution I have seen was in Visual Studio with reuse of non-modified files on Open (new file is open in old tab, if document inside was not modified).
Probably extending of File Explorer with some additional buttons (better to create new button row for file list) with shortcuts for navigation can be a solution, but I will not say that I really like it... But I will keep this in mind. If I will see some good design for this, it can be added.

Best regards,
Alex.
