I think I would change priorities for 1.50, and scripting and macro recording would come inside (together with plugin support).
About the minor bugs. First if you think they are bugs, you can post the mesage about it in corresponding board Then bugs can be fixed. Second, I do not think that these are bugs (find or quick bar arrows that remain visible afterwards). If oyu mean small blue arrows on indicator margin left side. They are left inplace by design, to help you find last search or go to position if you have moved cursor and removed selection. In addition there is also small blue triangles inside of text pointing to position

Currently I am not planning to take any fee for upgrade But after your post I would think about it (this is joke).

That's very good news.  When you implement it - is there any chance you could use something that looks like PushKeys/TPushKeys code, or the sort of thing that KeePass uses, e.g.  {USERNAME}{TAB}{TAB}Some fixed string{TAB}{PASSWORD}{ENTER} ?  I need a good text editor - but I'm not a coder    so I don't understand the XML that HE uses for other things.  But, I would stand a chance of being able to read and edit this sort of syntax.

Right - I got the TPushKeys/PushKeys from the Help file of mouser's Clipboard Help and Spell at DonationCoder, though Alan Warriner's site that mouser refers to seems to have gone.

If you want macros to be a whole programming language, that's something else.  I don't "speak" any programming language except a bit of AWK, so if macros have to be Lua, Ruby, Javascript or whatever, that leaves me out in the cold.  And "Simplistic macros that simulate keystrokes" are often very useful.

Something I like from TED Notepad; the ability to mark a block of text, invoke an external tool that's a filter with a hotkey or by menu, and have the transformed text overwrite the marked block.  It's especially useful for me using AWK because AWK (and SED, and TR, and...) expect to take their input from STDIN and send their output to STDOUT, and in many cases I already have the scripts.  TED Notepad gives me an especially  convenient way to benefit from existing scripts without having to change them.  I'd like to see that functionality in HE.  So I suppose I'd better go off and check whether it already exists

Yes, about replace selection, ti was laready suggested by Stefan. I have this in todo.

For scripting, I was planning to use Windows Active Scripting which has a lot of scripting engines available (in addition to standard Java and VB script). Then, to no introduce just another micro language for macros, idea was to generate primitive script, when you run macro recorder, which for example contains only keystrokes. Something like:
ExecuteCommand(52436);
ExecuteCommand(52437);
ExecuteCommand(52037);

and so on.

First, this is reuse of the exisitng engine, second you can easy extend generated script after that...

Yes, I admit I was uncomfortable suggesting inventing yet another new language.  As long as I can reasonably easily read and change macros, I'll be happy.

Thanks alex The 1.5 release sounds really really good - Can't wait for it!

The inline arrow that persists after find is what I was referring to - no way to turn it off in preferences as far as I can tell. I was able to get rid of the persistent arrow in the gutter by hiding the selection margin. I just wish that I could disable in Preferences the find arrows. But overall, this is not a huge deal. Aside from that, I still love HippoEdit - working with it every day
