Needed to work on some low level files and of course reached out to HE, well after poking around I realized that Hex View mode is not available :-\.

I wish HE had it.

Dear developers/owners, is that possible to get Hex mode sometime in the future?

Stefan

1.) i hope Alex will not implement this before HippoEDIT v3.0
2.) the same for FTP and Diff
I am not against some small lightweight tools for an quick dirty job,
but development/implementing/support/feature wish and bug-fix will take some huge time.

I think HE should be an editor.... for all the other there are already good tools with features
an build-in tool will never have, just because you need extra skill and lot of time to implement this.
Just MHO!

I hope HippoEDIT will (and it do already partly) support us to easy include such other tools.

HE can work with relative paths so just copy this external tools to your HE-folder,
and make an tool-button in HE to call this tools like
Command: tools\Hex\Hex.exe
Arguments: %FileName%

to call this external tool with the current open file as parameter

Here are some free hex editors:

I have just tested
if they allow an file as parameter to open this file:

http://mh-nexus.de/en/
http://www.chmaas.handshake.de/delphi/freeware/xvi32/xvi32.htm

don't know if this is portable right now (they want to implement this feature):
http://frhed.sourceforge.net/

not tested this way:

Hi Arthur,

here is I am already mentined what is geerally in plans.
The HEX editor is inside.

But I am agree with Stefan, even small feature request to implement (when you think it would take a half of the day) normally results in one week of work. Because of the follow up feature requests, bug fixing and support. And also this is not really essential part of the text editor.

From another side, what I have seen from statistics in download site, popular queries in search engines, and requested features, HEX editor is on of the features that people need. And probably in plugin list I would implement it is some where on top position.

But once more, I want HippoEDIT to be a best among text editors, but not heavy all in one machine as UltraEdit. And it could not be best in all topics as HEX editing etc just because lack of the time...

Best regards,
Alex.
