I have to say I've been looking around for a nice editor with a small footprint for a while now and your's is perfect! I would like to move from Notepad++ and start using just HippoEDIT for now on.

But the only thing I need HippoEDIT to do is allow only one instance of it on the task bar and open all other files as a tab in it. Currently all I'm able to do is get it to open a new instance on the task bar with my previous and newly opened file together in it, while leaving my previous file in the old instance on the task bar next to the new one. Now I have two HippoEDITs on the task bar. The same thing happens again when I open another file, the previous two files and then the new one.

Is this just a bug that I have on my system? Or is it HippoEDIT?

I turned the "Allow Multiple Instances" option on and tried again, then turned it off. Still nothing

I'm using v1.45

Hello Torann,

thanks for the feedback and welcome ;).

No this is not a bug. It is a feature :) I assume that you open first instance from start menu and rest by shell extension or double click in Windows Explorer. Reason for two instances is in these cases to different editor workspaces used: for open of editor from start menu default and for open with Shell Extension or double click viewer (viewer is special predefined workspace optimized for files viewing).

So, to achieve behavior you want, keep Allow Multiple Instances off and set Viewer workspace in options to default. Can be found here Tools->Options->General->Workspaces.
To find out more about current workspace properties, check File -> Workspace -> Properties.

Best regards,
Alex.
