Encoding and Insert Date issue
« on: August 12, 2009, 02:11:48 am »
As far as I remembered, if one uses HE under localized Windows, the encoding menu will be localized as well. Now I would like to confirm if this is a bug or by feature since I believed that the date like july, thrusday etc can be localized as well (Using system functions,API? --- I dont believe somebody has actually localized this encoding menu)

Hi,

There is no real localization, but HE reads encoding names from system settings, so they are displayed in system language (not local).

To create date/time insert templates, also system function are used. But they display texts not in system language but in local (ones selected by user in Control Panel -> Regional and Language Options -> Standard and Formats). You can check this by hovering clock in system tray. The language used there should be also used when inserting date time in HippoEDIT. Is this does not match on your machine and what you have selected in Standards and Formats ?

Best regards,
Alex.

Hi Yu Ru A.G ;)

sorry I have not got you...
So, are Insert Date Time in HippoEDIT inserts it in Chinese or in English?
And what you have selected in Standard and Formats?

Regards,
Alex.

When Insert Date & Time, it is in English but my system time is in Chinese (Because some other Chinese application will have garbled when the language is not set to Chinese.)

Yes, I think this is a bug...
I have tried to get date time inserted in Russian, but without success.
Generally it should work, because date time should be inserted in current locale, but probably the locale in HippoEDIT is not set correctly (or as I have expected).

Would try to fix this next beta.

Thanks for a bug report.
