We would try to optimize/extend the schema step by step. Maybe I will get an idea how we can overcome the problems with current rules set, if not I would know which kins of rules are needed :)
Will be helpful, if you will send me bigger example file, that I can see all cases in one place.

Here's an example file about the media queries syntax.

Also, I've included an updated version of the CSS3 schema - added a few vendor prefixes and included more media query keywords.

sorry for delay with response. I have checked the schema against example file you have attached. Have added some media keywords were missing in your schema (and, only etc). I see that this will not make the definition well formed for media section by at least will highlight known keywords...
But definitely, the highlighting rules should be extended to support such definitions... But not now.
