%InteractiveDir% and 'initial directory'
« on: November 11, 2010, 01:16:02 PM »
Hi again,

I have a file compare program that I want to ad as a tool. I want to compare my current file with an existing file with the same name (but stored in a different folder), so I use:

Arguments: %FileName% %InteractiveDir%\%Document%

I set the Initial directory to %FileDir%, as to have a starting point for the %InteractiveDir%-dialog, but unfortunately that dialog does not respond to the setting of the initial directory. Would you please consider implementing this as a feature?

Kind regards, G

Hi GJK,

the Initial Directory used not for File Open Dialog (%InteractiveDir%, %InteractiveFile%) but for setting OS current directory that can be consumed later by console apps. Maybe this is a good idea to also reuse it for initial directory of the file dialog, I will check this. If will be easy to add, will be added to next 1.49 beta, if not easy will be todo for 1.50.

But if you only just want to open file dialog for current file dir, as workaround, you can use Tools->Options->General->File Open Save initial directory and set it to current file.

Best regards,
Alex

I think i would open my "file compare program" with only one argument like

Arguments: %FileName%

and then my file compare program would ask me for the missing file and provide me an nice dialog to browse for.

Hi Alex,
thanks for considering adding this.  :D

Stefan, that would be possible of course, but I have the program I use create a html report on a fixed location and use the "Syntax Help" menu to open that (or reload) html file in HippoEDIT. So it's already a smooth process.

Guys, I bought HE two days ago after I installed is as Giveawayoftheday and its simply great! I do had an occasional freeze, (which should not occur ;) ), but then I do the things with it I only dreamed about doing with the previous editors I've used.

thanks for the feedback!

if you will be able to reproduce the freeze, write me. I am interested in fixing this. I had similar reports and have feeling that this happen if people use internal web browser but I am not sure... Any way to fix, I need to recreate it on my machine.

I will surely report these, but at the moment I have no clue. Being related to the internal browsing is not what happened here (something very innocent...). It'll probably be very difficult to catch.
