I have a feature request: be able to change the color of a tab, I can explain why:

it would help me visualize what files I am working actively with among others opened in HE and also distinguish between them by type, e.g. a green file would be the one not yet saved or new, say red would be the one I am working on most of the time adding/changing content, grey would be the one say from my source control solution, etc. I guess you now have the idea/rational behind my request.

Hello Arthur,

is this is not a duplicate of your old request?
You can also read my response there.

And do you want to have ability to change tab color or you want to have tab color dependent on some/several criteria?

I forgot I have already asked for this feature. I apologize.

To clarify: I would like to be able to set the colors of the tabs by say doing a right click on them and then a set of predefined colors would show up for me to choose the color that makes sense for me.
I am also thinking a newly created file logically may already come with a green tab and a file that is under source control or locked for editing should come with a grey tab automatically, furthermore an unsaved file can probably get a red tab, etc.

Hi Arthur,

Ok. Adding of the custom colors for some files (with context menu, for example) is rather feasible. Because this match to my plans about color personalization for syntaxes, and can work in same way as other document specific properties (defaults are taken from syntax defaults and can be overwritten for some specific document).

The suggestion with state colors for tabs does not fit into logic with custom user defined colors and in addition to this there are already state indicators available. As text color for tab, icons for locked files, background color for locked document etc. I would keep this in mind and this can be discussed once more after implementing of user colors for documents. I think then it would be more clear.

Best regards,
Alex.
