Reorganizing of the File Menu.

Hi All,

Recently (maybe from 1.47), I have reorganized File menu by creating two sub menu: one for Open and one for Save, and have moved all related items inside. Same was done some when for New.

Meanwhile, I got complains that people could not access standard commands as Open and Save with accelerators Alt+F+O or Alt+F+S and now need to press additional key.
I understand that I have violated standards, when have moved these commands to sub menus, but I have done this to reduce File menu size. If I would left these commands and moved rest in sub menus, then I need to invent some names for sub menus that is different from Open And Save (Open more and Save more) and that I do not want.

So the question is what to do: shall I move these two commands out of the sub menus and rename them or leave them like it is. How important this?

Another way, which is not possible now is to use sub menu as item also, as it done in MS Office 2007.

I prefer the new organisation with sub menu   
and  CTRL +O and CTRL+S  are OK

Its bad to lost an good used habit but i can't really understood the complains,
since it's just an additional pressing of the ENTER-key.
Or as Alain says we can use Ctrl+ also.

Open: with accelerators Alt+F+O and ENTER || Ctrl+O
Save: with accelerators Alt+F+S and ENTER || Ctrl +S


I was wondering because of the reorganisation too because i was
searching for "Save as.." in the first times,... but i think you did an great job there.
One can't make it right for everyone, you have to go your own way.

So i think you could just answer them "excuse me" and point them to the only slightly different use 
which was only needed of the constantly improving of the best programmers editor at all.

Hi Guys,

thanks for comments! I have also suggested to assign Alt+S shortcut for Save as alternative.

This was a unistall feedback:

[Alt f s] doesn't work, I have to press [Alt f s f]. That's why I uninstalled it. [Ctrl s] is annoying because I have to shift my hand position to get there. Fickle? Not when you press [Alt f s] every 10 seconds like I do

So, I will do nothing or let us wait for more complains

If that user read this... let me say: "you would even save an key press by assigning Alt+S for that" as Alex pointed to too.

If he had asked, i had point him to "Tools > Options > General > Auto save every [ 1] minute" 
( maybe you should improved this to allow saving every n seconds  )

Sometimes ... too much et too more
and you are lost.... in the alternative/accelerator key forest !

Everybody can remapping key : after all it's a programming editor first !
and, for me, HE is a great editor.
