Major deal-breaker problems...

These are features that do not exist, and because they do not exist I will probably not continue to use HippoEDIT.

1) If there is only one file open it does not report the file location.  I have files with the same name in different directories.  I need to know which file I'm working on.  On some programs you can start a "save-as" and the "save-as" will show the current directory location, not so in HippoEDIT.

2) If you use the file-explorer short-cut to open a file in a directory, and HippoEDIT is already open, it will start another instance.  Even worse, if it's the same file that is already open in the other instance, you now have two copies of the same file in two different editors, with (possibbaly) two different modifications.  This is VERY BAD!

Think I'll continue to use Notepad++.

Hi Matt,

1) Tools->Options->Editor->"Full Path in Window title" to ON.
2) Tools->Options->General->"Allow multiple instances" to OFF and check this post Single Window.

This is your decision what to use ;)

Best regards,
Alex.

Hi Matt,

To begin with I wrestled a little with HippoEDIT too.

My advice, if you want to hear it, is to stick with it.

It's amazing what HippoEDIT can do, sometimes it does take a bit of
digging to get there, but when you get into the HippoEDIT groove .. your flying.

Just my $00.02 of course.

Cool!  I'm very happy you mentioned that  ;D, one more thing:

List of previously edited files?  (Couldn't find it in the options).

Yes, it's there, but it's only for the current session.  I was looking for all sessions.  Sometimes I'll edit a file in a strange and out of the way directory, then close HippoEdit.  The next day I'll need to edit the file again, but I don't remember where it even was.  It would be very convenient if I could use HippoEdit's previously edited files pull-down to find it again.

And how about an 'update associations' button?

No, you are not right. The recent files mentioned are for all sessions otherwise there is not too much sence to keep this function ;).
One reason can be why they are not saved, is that workspace currently active do not save recent files history (Last used history).
Check Workspace->Properties and search in forum for "viewer workspace" (special workspace, optimized for viewing files, where this option os disabled by defaul).
Another possibility that you have installed HE as portable in Program Files or as for All Users on Windows 7 or Vista. In this case can happen that your user does not have write permissions to write in folder where hippoedit user settings stored. Please check to chnage some options in settings an restart HE to be sure that settings will be saved.

Tools->File Associations.
