Title: Recording macros (keyboard and mouse movements and keystrokes) allover windows 7
Post by: tds15 on October 15, 2015, 07:58:15 PM
Hi,

I'm new to scripting, and looking for a way to record automated actions (macros?)  in windows 7, and then convert the recording into a VBA script.

I notices that there is an addon that converts macros to Javascript and i guess that later on I can find a way to convert it into VBA.

So my question is if Hippoedit can help me record automated actions, that include mouse clicks and keystrokes in windows 7?

Thank you very much

Hi,

yes, hippoedit can record mouse action and clicks in hippoedit itself and outside of it also and persist them as hippoedit macros. Than there is a plugin, that can convert such macros in JavaScript.
And such scripts can be executed. But as macros ONLY in hippoedit. While they rely on HippoEDIT API for executing of them. To be honest, shell object that is used for executing of the mouse clicks, has same API as WSH (Window Scritpting Host), so it may be rather easy to adopt resulting scripts to run with it, without HippoEDIT, but I have never tested that. While this was not an intention of this functionality.

But to be honest, I think, HippoEDIT is not a proper tool for your requirement. Try to use something more deidcated, as AutoHotkey (http://www.autohotkey.com/) for example. It is very powerful and free tool people normally use to do Windows automation.

Best regards,
Alex.
