I am measuring using the HE's built in ruler:

the page margin (vertical line) is set at 75 chars, but when the document is printed it actually prints past that up till char 83.

Should not it the Page Width marker be positioned at char 83 then?

By design not...

Wrapping in print mode is controlled by Wrap Lines flag in Print settings.
And this flag controls wrap by paper page size (not Pages size from HE settings).

So this is a reson why it does not correspond to 75 charcters size found in HE settings for syntax.
Otherwise HE need to provide three modes for wrapping in Printing, and I really do not know is this is really needed, or wraping pby paper size is enough.

Best regards,
Alex.

I would expect to use settings from current document for print layout too.
If i wrap lines in editor i like to have the same layout on print out.

So i would think about this options in print options:
-- no wrap checked => don't use document wrap settings and truncated too long lines
-- wrap is checked => use settings from document (i think this makes more sense and is what user await)
The description "Wrap Lines" should be called "Wrap Lines as in document" maybe to make this clear?

(Oh! ... while in print preview and check "Print lines"-options      and press on "Apply"     i get an error and HE crashes)

Hi Stefan,

I think this is VERY rare case when you want to have lines be printed without wrap.
Reason is that on screen you can always scroll but on paper this mean information is lost.
So, the wrap settings is for some special settings. So I do not thing that document wrap setting and print wrap settings shoul be connected.

Other question is then, what to do with two wrap modes (Window Edge and Page).
Here I can think.

The crash I could not reproduce, but found some other strange things with print preview...

Best regards,
Alex.

If i had set this wrap modes .... the lines are wrapped.... and since i expect to have print layout like doc layout.... vĂ²ila.
The point is to get an print out like you have formated your doc.  A one-to-one copy.

But i think.... i think about formated lines.... while you mean just somewhere wrapped lines?
Where it is no point if you wrap by 80 or 95 chars.

But if i had wrapped my lines by 55 i want to print this whit 55 too.
I don't want to have the lines printed whit 83.
Because short lines are easier to read for me.

I will make some printouts next week to make more experiences.

Ok Stefan,

you have convince me :)
If you want to have a lines wrapped by 55 char, and have this set for document, then document should be wrapped by 5 5chars on the print outs also :) If desired to be wrpapped in printing.

Only if the page size allow to print only 30 chars ... ;)
