beta 576 05.01.09 on XP SP2
I attempted to select a rectangular block by Alt-Shift arrow, but I couldn't select beyond the end of short lines.
After enabling View.VirtualSpace, it was OK, ie I could select anywhere.
Then, I disabled View.VirtualSpace, because it's more comfortable for me. Yet, I can still select beyond the end.
Sure, it is by design, because we have to be able to select any rectangular block, independantly of View.VirtualSpace value.
But it seems weird that the first time I tried to select a rectangular block, I was not able to do it on short lines.

I specify that I opened a .bas file. In syntax settings, all VirtualSpace check boxes were unchecked (in All Syntaxes, Default, Basic).

Any explain ?

PS. Selecting block by Alt-Shift arrow is very nice. Thanks Stefan, and perhaps Alex  :)

Hi,

I have tried to reproduce this, but could not. Have done also clean installation. Selecting with Alt+Shift works also beyond of the end line without any changes to virtual space flag.
But then I got an idea, maybe first time you have tried word wrap for the document was enabled? When word wrap is enabled selecting beyond of the line would not work. Because it generally based on Virtual spaces flag, and  it is disabled on word wrap mode (you could not go beyond end of not last subline).

Quoteword wrap
Yes, it was surely the reason. Very clever !

Another little bug ? Here I don't like smooth scrolling. So I disable it in Options/Editor.
But when I re-open HE, that option is still checked.  :(

Yes, you are right. I can reproduce this.
Would be fixed in new beta, if it would be not a release :)
