Hi All,

I have already got two complains, about location of Find/Replace menu. People said that right place for it is Edit menu, like in all other programs and it should be moved from Navigation menu. Because location is not "standard" it was difficult to find it.

From my side, I have moved Find/Replace commands from Edit menu some when, to make shorter already heavy Edit menu and generally Find was matching Navigation commands. Also "other" programs does not have Navigation menu, so this was not really wrong.

It is not really compatible to change location of command after so long time, but if majority decides this is right, can be done.

So:
What do you think?

I remember i hade always to search the search menu too.
But since i use the keyboard shortcuts i don't really care for myself.

Then i thought ... "Edit" menu, yes, fits better.
But then i did an closer look an found out:

Hi Stefan,

thanks for the investigations! I think your screenshots explain everything :)
Just in case of HE Search menu called Navigation and has a View in between. And I have checked some of them, their Search menu also have a lot of not really search stuff but related...

Based on this problem, I have two ideas/helpers:
- add one more Find (maybe plus Replace) menu item into Edit menu, which will just duplicate one from Navigation (the problem here, people can miss other related commands in Navigation menu, which maybe will fit better).
- add menu path as additional detail in command description in keyboard settings and maybe in Hint Windows.

What do you think?

You know yourself what this idea is, i guess. (Move "Find" completely or not at all)

I can not really imagine what you mean, and from what i imagine this would not really be of any help

- updating the help to show where the functions are located in the menu.
"Find and Replace (Navigation > Find and Replace > ...)"

- OTOH, your "Find and Replace" sub-menu is large enough to get its own main menu "Search" (like the above screen shots)

I mean that if you traverse through commands in keyboard configuration or in Command Hint window, you see below a command description. In the same place I can show current command location in main menu in a way as Navigation>Find Replace>Find... for command Edit.Find.
As I see, misunderstanding can come also from command names, that are look like gathered by menues, but in case of Find not... But it is too late to change command names now, because user defined keyboard maps will not work...

Quote- updating the help to show where the functions are located in the menu.
"Find and Replace (Navigation > Find and Replace > ...)"
This would be more work... If for display in program I can find out a menu path automatically, for help, this all should be done manually...

Also an idea, can be done, if people like that.

Hi Arthur,

check 1.50 beta. It already has Search menu.
But take now 32 bit version, x64 does not load plugins now, for some reason. Will fix next week.
