windows 7 SP1

When editing a VB ASP page, if i type "elseif " (notice the SPACE char after the word elseif) then the program will hang and eventually crash. Is this a known bug? Is there a workaround (other than to type "else if" and then go back later and remove the space between the two)?

i was going to purchase the product (i currently have a giveawayoftheday version from 2 years ago)  in the hopes that this has been fixed (along with any new goodies) but the product doesn't seem to have been updated in more than 2 years. oh well.

thanks.

Arthur

Did you download and use an ASP template to edit?

mrzeld

The version i have has templates for ASP. Everything in the file is color coded and the program will try to auto-do stuff for me. Is there another download i have to do to get more support for VB ASP? when i go to tools|options|syntax settings, there are probably about 50 or so languages listed there. so i didn't think i needed to download anything else.

i did just notice that there are two syntax profiles for ASP. there is HTML(ASP) and then there is ASP. The program is currently using HTML(ASP) for my ASP files. on one of the files i had open, i switched it (View | Syntax | ASP) to ASP and now the error will not occur, even on the other pages that are still using HTML(ASP). i am not sure if that fixed anything or if the error relies upon other conditions before it occurs. i will reply to this post if i can come up with an exact set of steps that produces the error.

I added ASP support to my HE and then opened a aspx file and then added 'elseif ' (with the space) as a line of code to it and HE happily accepted it.

I guess when your HE crashes it has no option of sending the crash report, so it may not be investigated, I am sure Alex will post a reply soon whether it is a known bug.

Hi mrzeld,

no, this is not known bug. At least I do not remember it. Will be good to get a crash report or crash dump. But maybe it was really disabled for GAOTD version, because it does not provide free technical support. But maybe not... But in any case it will be better to reproduce it for 1.50 beta, while I will not update 1.49 any way. I think, you can install 1.50 aside to GAOTD 1.49 without losing 1.49 free license.

BR, Alex.
