Hi Sander,

thanks for noticing, Yes, you are right, there is something wrong with Hex plugin, though it is installed.
Probably some crash on load. I would check and come up with an updated version.

Ok, great! I use HippoEdit for the hex viewer (editor).

I only use the x64 version, and it seems to work again.
Thanks for the quick fix Alex.

alex

Thanks for verifying. I have updated now also x32 version.

New release HippoEDIT 2.0.62.

  • Added support of Code Completion scripting. Now you can add custom code completion for any syntax. Details in the wiki.
Filtering of items is refactored and enhanced. From now on you can filter items by prefix, substring, acronyms or shorthands.
  • Sorting of items enhanced. The items in the list are not sorted by prefix anymore, but by relevance and way, they were collected. Typed items come first. Then comes keywords, code templates, and autocorrection items. Typed nearby have an additional score. Items filtered by prefix has priority on one collected by substring match, substring match over acronym, acronym over shorthand.
  • From now on typed items are collected over all open documents of the same syntax. Items from current document have priority over items harvested from other documents.
  • LiveColors plugin is included in the installer (to avoid further inconsistencies)

All changes are active by default, no XML control switches available.

Thanks for the new version. I have two things I noticed:

1.
A small bug:
In the settings under Plugins/HexEditor/Endian it says 'Big-Endian (Motorolla). Actually, it's Motorola (one L, not two).

2.
The default setting is Little-Endian. But, in hex format the actual layout (on the disk and in memory) is always Big-Endian order. Only when you interpret a piece of memory, then a block of memory gets to be interpreted as Little-Endian or Big-Endian. Even though probably >99% of the people use a Little-Endian CPU, the default setting of how you see the file should be as it is on the harddisk.

Alex, hi!
Cannot run HE 2.00.62.
Error looks like "Cannot find api-ms-win-crt-runtime-l1-1-0.dll" - see attached screenshot.

alex

Thanks for reporting! I will check.
It is actually strange, as far as I remember api-ms-win-crt-runtime-l1-1-0.dll shall be included in the installer. But maybe something missing...

BTW: As I see, you would be a good candidate to check Total Commander Lister plugin, included in recent HE 2.0 builds ;)

Hi Alex,

I have checked latest 2.0.62 installer and for me, it works (on "fresh" Windows 8 image). But actually, I was installing on top, without a full reinstall.
Also, as I see, api-ms-win-crt-runtime-l1-1-0.dll is included in the installer.

So, maybe that something special on your side?
You can also install VS 2017 redistributables directly, how it is described on wiki:
https://wiki.hippoedit.com/faq/startup-crash#hippoedit_200

Can you please verify? And if works also a Total Commander Lister plugin.

Hi Alex,

Is there any new version? The one I have is v2.0.62 x64 from 17-Jun-2018 19:47:20.

Anyway, thanks for the hex editor!

alex

Hi Sander,

yes, it is time :) There were honestly not too much of functional extensions, mostly code refactoring and small corrections, because of that I have not come up with new updated.
But I may bring it at least in the actual state.

Will try to publish the update next weeks.

Can you tell me whether you have an (approximate) ETA for the new 64-bit version?

alex

Hello Sander,

I have not forgotten - just need to fix some complex bug in FTP manager. As far as it is done, I will update the alpha.
