For Toolbars -menu it would be nice to have "[ ] None" and "[ ] All"

bit i am unsure what to do with 'main menu'?

I think mostly i want to disable all menus but main menu.

"[ ] Main Menu"
"[ ] Standard"
"[ ] Text Editor"
"[ ] Tools"
"[ ] Web"
"[ ] Project"
-------------------
"[ ] None but Main"
"[ ] None"
"[ ] All"

Quote02.03.2009 Version 622:
    * New. New functions for toolbars (None But Main, All, None, Reset Preferences).
Reset Preferences - resets user preferences to allow automatic toolbar behaviour (show/hide on frame switch etc)  Details...
    * New. Shortcut to show/hide main menu (by default Alt+F10) for cases when user hides all toolbars and menues.

FYI
since i have an own keymap___.xml i didn't have this Alt+F10 shortcut.
Now i have test "Toolbar: None" and so i am lost (ok, not really lost because i was able to help myself, but others...?...)
Don't know what to do... just mention it.

To solve this problem if you're trapped :

- delete or rename your current workspace (the hide toolbar settings are stored there in)
HippoEDIT will create an new workspace.

- or edit your workspace file and remove the > hidden="true" < part.

- or edit your keymap.xml and add > <Shortcut verb_id="View.ToolbarMainMenu" key="121" alt="true"/> <
Be sure to have > key="121" alt="true" < only once there in.

---------------------
Oh, just discover that  "View.ToolbarMainMenu"   is an toggle option. Nice.

Hello Stefan,

yes, I see, but I think this is not a big problem. And would not happen for new users. They would have the shortcut in their default keyboard layout.

;D Of course. And generally this is not bad, because you can switch it with shortcut.

I'm a new user evaluating HippoEdit. I'm running the 1.50.746 beta version.

I just had the problem described in this topic. I wanted to get rid of all the toolbars (but not the menu; didn't even know that was possible). So I went into the View - Toolbars menu. I selected None, and was very surprised to see the menu bar gone. I actually needed to google and find this topic in order to get it back. Had I not found this in very short time, I guess I would just have uninstalled the product and be done with it.

A couple of suggestions:

1. I would rename 'None but Main' to 'None but Main Menu'. For one thing, I though it meant 'None but main toolbar'. And also: it's called 'Main Menu' at the top of the Toolbars sub-menu.

2. Make it easier to get the main menu back, or at least make it easier for the user to find out how he can do that.
For example, I though maybe pressing the Alt key would toggle the main menu, like it does with certain applications when they are in full-screen mode. Then, I know F1 will bring up help in every Windows application, so I pressed F1 and indeed help is what it brought up, but: help does not contain any information for how to get the main menu back. Another thing I checked was if there was an entry in the application's system menu to get the menu bar back.

Hi phitsc,

welcome on forum and thanks for the feedback. It is amazing, how much problems creates such simple functionality. I have invested more time into support of such extreme cases, that to actually for adding the feature :)

OK, I have already renamed the item - no problem.

There was already actions done to avoid such problems in 1.50 - try to hide only main menu. I just forgot same message for "None". Already corrected.
Also good idea about enabling of the menu by Alt (there is already AutoHide mode for main menu in HE). I will check how much efforts it will take.

Mentioned corrections will be available in next 1.50 beta.

Best regards,
Alex.
