Idea:

Just took a look at Windows 7 beta.
Gadgets became more favorable and seems like now a centerpiece in Windows 7 (they are also popular on Vista).

Seems they are very appealing to users, I think, therefore it is a good front door for HE to reach out to the user community.

How about creating a HippoEdit gadget? Perhaps must come in a form of a skimmed down, mini-editor like gadget, but useful enough for the developers.

What our dear moderators think?

I am still sitting on XP, and dont want to move to Vista, so I am not really familar what using of gadgest can give to user. Maybe for tool like indicators or informers yes. As to do list maybe.
But to a featured editor as a gadget, do not know. What this brings to user?

Perhaps Alex is already on the way?

QuoteHippoEDIT as plugin for external applications. I am plannig to have embeddable version
of the HE (only editor window, without main menu, toolbars, panels etc),
which can be used as viewer/editor in other applications.

HippoEDIT - the editor programmers wants to code thyself when they are dreaming.        -Don't just edit. HippoEDIT!-

Ye, but i have not thought about gudgets there. What I mean was the previewers for text files in File Explorer.
